Getting Ready for School with Term Footwear

Earlier this year Riley had the opportunity to try out some fabulous wellies from Term Footwear. The wellies were fantastic, really comfortable, looked stylish and were excellent quality. We were therefore really excited to learn about the new range of school shoes and I was pleased when Emma was provided with the chance to try a pair of them out.

We began by browsing the available choices online and there were a couple of pairs that Emma really liked. Her old school shoes were brogue style which she had always found appealing and so she decided to go for something quite similar and chose the 'Bella' style shoe in a size 2. We placed our order online and immediately received an order confirmation. A couple of days later we received notification that the shoes had been dispatched and the following day they arrived.

The shoes came presented in a brown box with a light blue lid displaying the Term logo. We immediately picked up on the new leather shoe scent before even opening the box and once the lid was lifted we were really happy with initial first impressions.

The Bella Lace Up Brogue Girls School Shoe is a lace up shoe with a fashionable brogue design. It has a sleek toe with rounded laces which looks really smart and stylish. The shoes are manufactured from high grain leather and flexible thermo rubber soles, which is important to me as I like my childrens school shoes to be made of good quality materials so that they last a long time. There is a small block heel which is the ideal height for offering support and in addition to this there is a comfortable insole to provide additional support and cushioning. They have an RRP of £39.99 which is the price that I would normally pay for a good quality school shoe at the beginning of the school year.

The shoes came nicely presented and my daughter immediately tried to put them on, not realising that I would need to loosen the laces first. Five minutes later they were ready to be tried on and my daughter was very pleased with the initial comfort and how they looked. She couldn't wait to wear them to school the next day and said that they made her feel really smart and trendy. We both really liked the brogue detailing on the toe as this was visible even when wearing trousers which made them much more visually appealing than plain black shoes.

We found that once we had loosened the laces the remainder of the lace was quite short where as my daughter would have preferred them to have been a little longer to make them easier to tie. However she noted that after wearing them to school they had not become untied at any point during the day which can be an issue when laces are longer. Emma therefore decided that she actually now preferred the shorter lace and thought that it was in fact much better.

The heel is the largest she has had in a school shoe and so she did express initial concerns that she may find them uncomfortable during the day, however after the first day of wearing them Emma felt that they were really comfortable and found that they offered her more support than her previous shoes. Emma also enjoyed the fact that they made her feel slightly taller!

For the first week Emma wore her new Term Footwear school shoes on alternate days to her old ones just to wear them in and get used to them, followed by wearing them every day in the second week. Emma has been able to walk to school, run in the playground, climb on the play equipment and even play football and netball at break time with her friends whilst wearing them and she is really happy with her Bella Brogue shoes.

Overall we have been really impressed with the shoes. We both love the quality and design and Emma has been pleased with the heel comfort and flexibility of the shoe in allowing her to comfortably take part in activities with her friends at school. I feel that the RRP of £39.99 reflects the excellent quality and I would be more than happy to pay this price for a pair of long lasting school shoes. Emma has now worn them for two weeks, she absolutely loves them and they are a really comfortable pair of shoes that suit her active school day.
