Hale Barns Carnival 2020 Announces Three Headline Concerts

Three headline acts have been announced for Hale Barns Carnival 2020 - and due to high demand, a third evening concert has been added to the increasingly popular community festival.

Last year organisers were thrilled with a record number of visitors to the event, which raised more than £100,000 for the local community.

This year's event takes place across the weekend of Friday 17th July, Saturday 18th July and Sunday 19th July 2020 - and this year's event boasts its biggest headliners yet, including Motown royalty.

Organisers are delighted to announce this year's headline live acts performing at Hale Barns Carnival 2020 are Motown Legend Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, opera vocalist Russell Watson, and Seventies pop rock band Bay City Rollers.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas are heading to Cheshire for an exclusive festival performance, they will entertain audiences with their vast Motown back catalogue on the Sunday evening (19th July), accompanied by a full band.

Martha, who was seen on Celebrity Masterchef on television screens in 2019, will be performing at Hale Barns on the weekend of her 79th Birthday. Fans can look forward to live performances of her smash hit songs including Nowhere to Run, Heat Wave, Jimmy Mack - and the best selling Motown single of all time, Dancing in the Street, which was later covered in the 1980's by Mick Jagger and the late David Bowie.

A very special Proms with Russell Watson officially opens Hale Barns Carnival 2020 on the Friday evening (17th July). Salford-born Russell Watson is the UK's best-selling classical artist, and this year marks the 20th anniversary since his debut solo album The Voice hit the number one chart spot and catapulted the singer into the music industry spotlight.

Russell will be joined by his band performing a specially curated set of full proms classics, including massive anthems, Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Nessun Dorma. The Friday Night concert will be supporting local charity The Seashell Trust, with all profits from the evening being donated to the charity.

The following evening (Saturday 18th July), tartan pop rock sensations the Bay City Rollers will be shaking their shang-a-lang following an extensive tour of Japan and Canada.

The band will be flying back into the UK especially for the Saturday night concert. Fans of the tartan army are guaranteed a show-stopping evening as the band perform their back catalogue of greatest hits including Bye Bye Baby, Shang A Lang, Remember and Summerlove Sensation.

Gates open at 6pm for the live concerts on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the concerts starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the evening concerts are now on sale. All 100% of the evening concerts will be donated towards community projects and charities. One ongoing project supported by the event is to help fund a building project to create a new community hall in Hale Barns, which will provide a platform to showcase local talent and run adult learning and youth projects.

The live concerts are once again complemented by a two-day free Hale Barns Carnival family event on the Saturday and Sunday (18th and 19th of July).

The daytime programme will feature more than 100 attractions including falconry displays, pop-up theatre, craft activity tent, traditional fun fair rides, supercars, makers' market, food village and bars. Daytime entry is free from 12pm until 5pm.

Organiser Max Eden from Hale Barns Events commented: "Hale Barns Carnival is back bigger and better than ever before. Due to phenomenal demand and the incredible support of the local community, we are adding an extra date making the event three days for the first time ever.

"We're incredibly excited that the incredible queen of Motown Martha Reeves; operatic sensation and local lad Russell Watson; and Seventies tartan rockers the Bay City Rollers are joining us at the Hale Barns Carnival 2020. Each concert promises something completely different to enjoy and experience first-hand.

"With a bigger concert stage and even bigger acts, we want to make this the best Hale Barns Carnival we've ever had - and I still can't believe we've got a real Motown legend coming to Hale Barns, it's just wonderful. We're also looking forward to once again inviting visitors to enjoy the daytime festival atmosphere free of charge. Come and join us for a weekend of live music and family fun - it's the Summer event you won't want to miss."

Further announcements will be made in the coming weeks.

Organisers Hale Barns Events recently revealed that Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp will perform on the B&M stage but have kept the other all-star names under wraps - until now!

They are delighted to announce that Martin Kemp will be joined by three further headline acts - The Real Thing, Nathan Moore from Brother Beyond and disco legends Odyssey return to Hale Barns, back by popular demand! Martin Kemp will headline the Sunday evening concert with a Back to the 80's DJ set - as well as some Spandau Ballet classics to entertain the crowd.

Martin shot to fame as part of the 'New Romantics' group Spandau Ballet, selling millions of records worldwide, with hits including Only When You Leave, Through the Barricades, True, and of course Gold. A successful TV and film career also followed with roles in Eastenders and The Krays, as well as TV appearances on Celebrity Island, and judging on BBC talent show Let It Shine.

Martin will be joined on the Sunday evening by fellow 80's heartthrob, Nathan Moore from Brother Beyond. Nathan was the front man of boy band Brother Beyond, who were formed in 1987 and had a string of Top 40 hits including The Harder I Try, which was produced by Stock, Aitken & Waterman.

The disco and soul spotlight is on Saturday evening's concert with live performances from legendary bands, The Real Thing and Odyssey. Liverpool band and soul legends The Real Thing features original band members Chris Amoo and Dave Smith. The group will perform their top selling hits including You To Me Are Everything, Can't Get By Without You and Feel The Force.

Disco superstars Odyssey return to Hale Barns direct from the USA due to popular demand to play to their "favourite audience". Odyssey played at the very first Hale Barns Carnival in 2017 - and they're set to wow audiences for a second time with hits including Use It Up & Wear It Out, Native New Yorker, Inside Out and the iconic disco anthem Going Back To My Roots. Odyssey lead singer Steven Collazo added: "We are so excited to be coming back to Hale Barns in 2019, you guys were crazy last time and we had so much fun We can't wait to party with you all again in beautiful Hale Barns along with our friends The Real Thing."

The community focussed day event will open on the Saturday at noon with the Manchester Survivors Choir performing a special set on the B&M Stage, made up of survivors and people directly affected by the recent Manchester bombing. The choir was recently featured on the Take That 30th anniversary documentary on BBC, which saw Gary, Mark and Howard surprise the choir at a rehearsal in nearby Timperley.

Dates for your Diary - Brazilica to Return to Historic Pier Head for 2018

Liverpool Carnival Company recently announced that Brazilica Festival, one of the hottest events in the festival calendar, is back for 2018.

Returning to the city this July for the 11th consecutive year, with the main carnival day taking place on Saturday 14th July, organisers of Liverpool's International Samba Carnival are excited to now reveal that the main stage will once again be located at The Pier Head.

The Brazilica main stage will take pride of place within The Pier Head Village - a family focused festival coming to Liverpool's Waterfront for it's 3rd year again this summer.

The Pier Head Village will deliver a programme of world class entertainment, locally-sourced street food and artisan markets, world class high flying thrill rides and activity-based family entertainment, offering a complete day to night summer experience designed to entertain all ages.

Guaranteed to create a spectacular carnival atmosphere, the site will be brought to life with a colourful celebration of the sights, sounds and tastes of Brazil on the Brazilica main stage.

Brazilica organisers are busy putting together the programme for the main stage which will run throughout the day on Saturday 14th July from 12pm til 8pm, and the full line-up will be announced in the coming weeks.

It is certain to feature plenty of Latin fever, extravagant costumes, exotic music, and of course, plenty of samba, with a host of activities to celebrate the very best of Brazilian culture.

Already confirmed for 2018's festival, the Brazilian Film Festival will once again return, plus a Fringe Festival packed with a wealth of exhibitions, workshops and performances.

The hugely popular and extravagant Carnival Queen competition will also return on Friday 13th July; the winner crowned at the event will lead the sensational night-time Carnival Parade on Saturday 14th July, which remains the festival highlight and features Samba bands from across the UK and overseas.

The UK's largest Samba Carnival event, Brazilica has become one of the flagship events of the year in Liverpool's festival calendar. A colourful celebration of Brazilian music, dance, culture, food and sport, it attracts over 60,000 visitors to the city centre.

2018 promises to be even bigger and better, and Brazilica will form part of the city-wide year-long cultural programme of events, as Liverpool celebrates its 10-year anniversary of being named Capital of Culture.

Maeve Morris of Liverpool Carnival Company said: "We are very excited to be returning to the Pier Head for 2018 with the Brazilica main stage as part of the popular Pier Head Village. We have some very exciting acts in the pipeline which we will be announcing very shortly, and it promises to be a fantastic day of live music and entertainment."

Martin O'Shea, managing director of The Pier Head Village, added: "While we are still preparing the announcement of our full programme for the Village for the summer, we are delighted to lead with the news that Brazilica is returning for another year. The performances last year were truly world class and the vibrancy and excitement it brought to the Village was wonderful; we can't wait to welcome the crowds back again."

Free fun filled family friendly community focused Sunday event returns with headline act Marcus Collins plus tons of fun family activities!

We are family returns to Liverpool Pride for a second year this July following the rapturous response received from last year's event. The free family event drew a huge crowd in its first year and is set to come back bigger and better for 2017.

Michael Carey, from Liverpool Pride Festival, said: "We are very excited to bring back We Are Family for its second year. Last year's event was a huge success, it was great to see residents from all over the Liverpool City Region come together for a celebration of all things LGBT+. In the 50th year since the legislation of homosexuality it seems even more poignant to stand side by side with the wider community in celebration of the City's diversity."

Liverpool Pride Festival 2017 offers a week-long programme of activity which culminates with a two-day event on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July. The festival is returning for its second year to Liverpool's iconic St George's Quarter and features the well-established Liverpool Pride March on the Saturday.

Liverpool Pride Festival is now a key highlight in the city's Summer events programme, attracting more than 25,000 people each year to attend, take part and support the annual LGBT Festival.
