Crazy Construction Fun with Junkbots from Hexbug - A Review

My family has been huge fans of the Hexbug range of products for many years and my children have enjoyed many of their toys, with my eldest two children building up quite a collection at one stage. My youngest son Riley also loves Roblox and unboxing, so we were really excited to learn more about Junkbots, along with Hexbug's latest project that merges toys with entertainment.

A new eight-part digital series based on Junkbots, is now available to view on the HEXBUG Official YouTube page and from the 20th August, fans will be able to join in with the fun with the launch of the Roblox game that will follow a brand new adventure which all kicked-off when Junkbot Jack Static received a cryptic radio transmission.

To celebrate the launch of the digital series and game, we held a fun screening event for Riley where he watched some episodes whilst also playing along with some awesome Junkbots toys. Of course no screening would be complete without some sweets and popcorn, so we made sure there was plenty on hand for us to enjoy whilst watching the show.

Junkbots are the ultimate unboxing experience and there are items galore for you to rummage through and find the rubbish that can help you create your Junkbot character. They come in a selection of different sizes ranging from the Junkbots Trash Bin with an RRP of £4.99, the Junkbots Dumpster with an RRP of £9.99 and the Junkbots Industrial Dumpster with an RRP of £19.99. There are over 36 Junkbots to collect, but the beauty of this product is that items can be mixed and matched, which means that children can create numerous characters of their very own.

The Junkbots Trash Bin has an RRP of £4.99 and is the smallest in the range and perfectly priced for a pocket money purchase. Once you have opened the trash bin lid you can rummage inside to find the 15 pieces that you need to build the Junkbot character. Some pieces are loose in the trash bin, whilst others can be found inside the mini bin bags, providing plenty of unboxing fun. The design is fabulous and looks like a brightly coloured bin. The Junkbots are recommended for ages 3+ however there are some small parts, so I would definitely advise parental supervision if allowing younger children to play.

The Junkbots Dumpster has an RRP of £9.99 and includes 30 pieces inside allowing you two build two completely different Junkbot figures. This was my favourite in terms of price and value for money as in addition to the two Junkbot figures, the pack also included an energy module. Our energy module was easy to build and was a light which could be attached to Junkbot figures to make them glow. My son Riley absolutely loved this and enjoyed moving the light from one figure to another. Some of the connections and joints can be a little difficult to put together, so I did need to help Riley from time to time, but personally I enjoyed that I could also be involved and it was nice to be able to work together.

The Junkbots Industrial Dumpster has an RRP of £19.99 and is the ultimate construction adventure. It features over 50 different pieces allowing for 4 Junkbots to be built and this set also includes an energy module and a motion module which really help to bring the figures to life. Riley described this pack as being 'epic' and unlike other unboxing toys where the fun can be over very quickly, this set offered Riley hours of entertainment. He loved rummaging through all the bin bags, separating the junk from the pieces and creating the character designs. It kept him entertained for a full afternoon and once he has finished playing with the existing figures, he can do it all over again and create his own. I therefore really like the fact that these toys can be played with over and over again which definitely gives added value to the product.

Overall, we really loved the concept and design of the Junkbots and the fact that they offered so much unboxing fun. We particularly liked the fact that we could create our own characters, which was something that Riley definitely enjoyed. The initial diagrams are slightly difficult to follow and could do with being a bit clearer for children who want to make their character perfectly, but we managed on the most part and for any connections we weren't sure of, then Riley just used whichever part he liked the look of which seemed to work really well for us. The design is really fun and we loved that you had miniature bin bags to rummage through and find the pieces. I also feel that the RRP of the products is very reasonable and offers good value for money. I would definitely consider buying more of these in the future and will also look to buy these as birthday gifts due to their price. Junkbots are available to purchase now from The Entertainer, Amazon, Toymaster and other local independent retailers.

My Birthday Weekend!

For the past couple of weeks, my family and I seem to have caught various sickness and cold bugs and so I was really looking forward to spending the weekend together, now that we are all back to good health. A few years ago, my ideal birthday weekend would have involved a meal out with friends, drinks in the city centre and a selection of hangover cures at the ready for the following day. However, things have definitely changed since having children and all I really wanted to do this weekend was spend some time together and also take some time away from my computer to just sit down, relax and have a lazy Sunday.

On Saturday, my son Ben went fishing. This is his new favourite thing to do at the moment and he has really been enjoying going down to the local fishing pool with his Grandad. He idolises him, so as well as doing something he enjoys, he also gets to spend time with his best friend and enjoy some fishing together. With Ben out for the day we asked Emma and Riley whether they would like to go out for breakfast. It was a silly question really, as I knew what the answer would be, and they both quickly asked whether we could go to Chock's Away Diner in Broughton.

Chock's Away is one of our favourite places to go for breakfast. The ingredients are locally sourced and really tasty, the prices are reasonable and the diner also overlooks the Hawarden Airport runway. This means that you can catch a glimpse of the planes taking off and landing, as well as the fascinating Beluga air plane, which has a very interesting design. A few miles away from the diner is Broughton Shopping Park and so after enjoying a delicious breakfast, we decided to head to the shops to buy the children some new autumn & winter clothes.

It was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday morning and we enjoyed a couple of hours shopping and treated the kids to a few things, whilst also getting some ideas together for Christmas presents. I also took the chance to check out the Christmas range in Primark, which was a massive mistake as I literally want to buy every single Christmas item they have in the store! Their selection of Christmas decorations are just gorgeous and I have already decided that I am going to pop back next week and stock up with some new festive goodies.

On our return home, Riley was pleasantly surprised to find a little parcel waiting for him on the doorstep. Inside the package was a lovely Peppa Pig plush toy along with a copy of the new DVD Peppa Pig - My First Cinema Experience. The weather was dull and dreary outside, so we enjoyed snuggling up on the sofa and watching his new DVD together with some popcorn and home made milkshakes. When Ben returned home we finished the evening together watching football, playing games and enjoying some reality TV.

On Sunday it was my birthday and my morning began with the children bringing me breakfast in bed and singing Happy Birthday at 8:30am. This may sound early, but in our house, this classes as a big lie in! Ben had a football match later that morning, so the first part of the day consisted of being a footy mum and cheering from the sidelines. The afternoon however consisted of nothing! That's right, absolutely nothing. Just my family and I chilling at home, watching movies and not moving off the sofa. We are usually so busy and out and about pretty much all of the time, so this was literally my perfect birthday, with a home cooked meal by Mr F and a nice glass of wine to finish the day.

Happy Birthday to me!

Beautiful Flowers & Gifts from Prestige Flowers

I have recently started looking for gifts to purchase for friends and family as I have a few upcoming special dates in our diary. Father's Day is just around the corner on the 18th June and July seems to be full of friends birthdays as well as the end of the school term. My youngest son has nearly completed his first year of nursery and I have seen his confidence grow so much throughout the year that I would like to buy his teachers something special to say thank you for all their help and guidance.

Prestige Flowers have a fantastic website, which features a whole host of flower arrangements for all occasions and to suit most budgets. The site is very user friendly and easy to navigate, with the categories clearly displayed across the top of the page. This makes it easy to find the perfect gift for your loved one or friend. The selection of bouquets available are beautiful and you are literally spoilt for choice.

In addition to their wonderful selection of flowers, the site also features a great choice of gifts that can be added on to your flower order or can also be bought on their own. The Father's Day page has some great gift ideas including flowers, sweet treats, balloons, hampers, alcohol and gift sets.

The Birthday Flowers page showcases some stunning selections and there is bound to be a beautiful bouquet to suit all tastes. The combination gift sets offer great value for money and my personal preference are the sets that come with flowers, chocolates and a balloon.

I was therefore delighted when Prestige Flowers kindly offered to send me some flowers from their luxury range to review. I had previously received a beautiful Valentine's bouquet from them back in February and so I was very excited to be able to sample another bouquet from a different range.

I received an email confirming that my order would arrive on Monday 5th June and sure enough there was a knock at the door just after lunchtime. Even the packaging that the flowers arrive in comes well presented in a beautifully decorated box. The box has useful cut out handles which makes it easy to carry and it is very simple to unpack.

On opening the box I found a flower care guide, a small box of chocolates, a card, another small box and some stunning flowers that were neatly and safely wrapped. I proceeded to open the smaller box and was pleased to find a lovely glass vase inside that was perfect for my new flowers.

The beautiful bouquet came wrapped in glossy white wrapping, with some soaked material around the base of the flowers to help keep them fresh. It featured stunning Peonies, Carnations & Roses in a mixture of dark and pale pink colours. They smelt absolutely beautiful and had a strong, but not overpowering scent.

I found the flower care guide enclosed really useful as it provided specific information on caring for the roses, as well as information on other types of flowers. The essential tips on the reverse of this guide also gave great advice and will help me to maintain the flowers for as long as possible. The guide is only little so it is very easy to store away and keep safe for future reference.

The flowers also came with a small box of chocolate truffles which were absolutely delicious. They come in a lovely little gift box and are the perfect miniature sweet treat for any chocolate fan.

To begin with I initially placed the full bouquet exactly as it came, in the vase that was provided to ensure that all the stems received plenty of water. As the week has progressed I have began to trim the stems and rearrange them to make sure they absorb lots of water. I keep them on my windowsill for a few hours a day to receive sunlight and then move them to my display stand early afternoon to ensure they are not in direct light all day. I believe that this helps to make the bouquet last longer and nearly five days later they look absolutely fantastic.

Overall, I have been really pleased with Prestige Flowers and I would gladly recommend them to others. The bouquet was stunning and I was also impressed with the packaging and speed of delivery. The website is very user friendly and I have found some absolutely gorgeous gifts in their birthday range starting at only £19.99 for flowers and chocolates.
